Dallas Arboretum Wedding – Camp House

Before it Was Official

Whenever Annamarie contacted me about photographing her Dallas Arboretum Wedding at the Camp House I was beyond excited! She and her fiance, Joshua, were in film school in New York City, and I absolutely loved the vision they had for their wedding at the Dallas Arboretum.

They are a couple that appreciates a classic photographic look and wanted their day to be documented in a way that would stand the test of time. They incorporated a fall color palette for their September Dallas Arboretum Wedding, and leading up to their wedding date the weather seemed like it was going to be perfect – even as I arrived at the Warwick-Melrose Hotel for getting ready photos, the skies were bright and I just knew that the sun was going to break through the clouds at any moment!

Dallas Arboretum Wedding & Tented Reception at The Camp House

Their ceremony would be held at The Camp House at the Dallas Arboretum, and that morning we assumed it would be held outdoors. However, as we made our way to the Dallas Arboretum it began to drizzle, and the plan quickly shifted to an indoor ceremony. I saw this as an opportunity to be creative and incorporate parts of the venue indoors that might have been overlooked on a sunny day, and we did their first look in the library at the Camp House, and I am beyond in love with the results!

The library boasts a giant picture window from floor to ceiling, so despite the rain, there was a lot of light. Annamarie and Joshua specifically requested black & white film for their first look, and it paired really well with the aesthetic of the library and the ambience created by the window light.

Following their intimate ceremony the rain had thankfully let up and we were able to go outdoors for portraits! Overall the ambience of the day is reflected in the imagery, and while rainy wedding days do look different than sunny ones, I think there is something very beautiful and real about embracing whatever weather transpires on your wedding day and just being present and fulling enjoying every moment!

One of my favorite aspects of this Dallas Arboretum wedding was the tented reception on the grounds at the Camp House, which thankfully wasn’t hindered by the weather!

Wedding photography is about so much more than beautiful pictures of your wedding day - it is about the momentous curation of emotion and memories that are made on the day that two souls choose to be united forever. My heart for people, photography and all things romantic are what got me started on this journey of wedding photography ten years ago, and those same things are what keep me passionate about being a wedding photographer today.
